Estonia is a baltic member of the European Union, with its capital in Tallinn. The country joined the European Communities in 2004 in the largest single enlargement to date — the ten central-and-eastern European, Mediterranean accession. Economically, Estonia is a Baltic digital-government pioneer with a tech-heavy services sector, paper-and-pulp exports and the smallest population of the three Baltic states. The country has used the euro since 2011, and it is part of the Schengen area for cross-border movement. Estonian is the official language. On Eurostat's headline indicators, Estonia is currently 24th-most populous of the 27 member states with data on record; 25th by GDP at current prices.
