In 2014, Latvia's prison population (adults) decreased by 7.5% compared to 2013, reaching 4,707.

Latvia ranks 17th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 31.8% (from 6,906 in 2009).
