Prison population (adults)

In 2016, Latvia's prison population (adults) decreased by 3.8% compared to 2015, reaching 4,200.

Latvia ranks 16th out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 35.3% (from 6,493 in 2011).
