In 2018, Latvia's prison population (adults) decreased by 6.4% compared to 2017, reaching 3,487.

Latvia ranks 18th out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 31.5% (from 5,090 in 2013).
