In 2024, Latvia's prison population (adults) increased by 7.2% compared to 2023, reaching 3,474.

Latvia ranks 20th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 2.8% (from 3,378 in 2019).
