In 2011, Slovakia's population (total, 1 january) increased by 0.2% compared to 2010, reaching 5,435,273.

Slovakia ranks 16th out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 0.9% (from 5,389,180 in 2006).
