Prison population (adults)

In 2014, Sweden's prison population (adults) increased by 1.4% compared to 2013, reaching 5,795.

Sweden ranks 16th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 20.4% (from 7,280 in 2009).
