In 2006, Cyprus's population (total, 1 january) increased by 2.3% compared to 2005, reaching 766,400.

Cyprus ranks 21st out of 23 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 9.9% (from 697,500 in 2001).
