In 2008, Cyprus's population (total, 1 january) increased by 1.4% compared to 2007, reaching 789,258.

Cyprus ranks 22nd out of 24 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 10.4% (from 715,100 in 2003).
