In 2020, Latvia's prison population (adults) decreased by 8.9% compared to 2019, reaching 3,079.

Latvia ranks 20th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 29.5% (from 4,367 in 2015).
