In 2022, Latvia's prison population (adults) increased by 1.6% compared to 2021, reaching 3,206.

Latvia ranks 20th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 13.9% (from 3,724 in 2017).
