Prison population (adults)

In 2016, Sweden's prison population (adults) decreased by 0.5% compared to 2015, reaching 5,645.

Sweden ranks 15th out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 15.3% (from 6,662 in 2011).
