In 2020, Sweden's prison population (adults) increased by 8.6% compared to 2019, reaching 7,274.

Sweden ranks 14th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 28.2% (from 5,673 in 2015).
