In 1999, Estonia's passenger cars, by type of motor energy and size of engine increased by 1.7% compared to 1998, reaching 458,700.

Estonia ranks 24th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 35.8% (from 337,812 in 1994).
