In 2009, Finland's passenger cars, by type of motor energy and size of engine increased by 2.9% compared to 2008, reaching 2,777,000.

Finland ranks 14th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 18.3% (from 2,347,000 in 2004).
