In 2017, Ireland's police-recorded offences by offence category increased by 14.7% compared to 2016, reaching 39.

Ireland ranks 22nd out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 25.0% (from 52 in 2012).
