In 2009, Luxembourg's passenger cars, by type of motor energy and size of engine increased by 1.1% compared to 2008, reaching 331,500.

Luxembourg ranks 25th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 10.9% (from 299,000 in 2004).
