In 2007, Romania's passenger cars, by type of motor energy and size of engine increased by 9.9% compared to 2006, reaching 3,541,000.

Romania ranks 12th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 19.2% (from 2,971,000 in 2002).
