In 1998, Croatia's passenger cars, by type of motor energy and size of engine increased by 7.3% compared to 1997, reaching 1,000,000.

Croatia ranks 19th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 54.8% (from 646,000 in 1993).
