In 1999, Croatia's passenger cars, by type of motor energy and size of engine increased by 5.9% compared to 1998, reaching 1,059,000.

Croatia ranks 21st out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 51.7% (from 698,000 in 1994).
