In 2021, Cyprus's housing cost overburden rate by income quintile increased by 32.8% compared to 2020, reaching 7.70.

Cyprus ranks 26th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 28.7% (from 10.8 in 2016).
