In 2006, Denmark's passenger cars, by type of motor energy and size of engine increased by 2.8% compared to 2005, reaching 2,020,013.

Denmark ranks 15th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 7.9% (from 1,872,631 in 2001).
