In 2000, France's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 6.7% compared to 1999, reaching 16.0%.

France ranks 11th out of 21 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 6.7% (from 15.0% in 1995).
