In 2012, Germany's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 2.4% compared to 2011, reaching 17.2%.
The figure is below the EU-27 average of 17.6%.
Germany ranks 11th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.
Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 5.5% (from 16.3% in 2007).
