Environmental tax revenues as share of total taxes

In 2024, Germany's environmental tax revenues as share of total taxes increased by 4.2% compared to 2023, reaching 1.8%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 2.1%.

Germany ranks 21st out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 27.7% (from 2.4% in 2019).
