In 2002, Hungary's passenger cars, by type of motor energy and size of engine increased by 5.9% compared to 2001, reaching 2,629,500.

Hungary ranks 14th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 14.4% (from 2,297,964 in 1997).
