In 2000, Hungary's nights spent at tourist accommodation establishments increased by 13.5% compared to 1999, reaching 20,429,967.

Hungary ranks 16th out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 27.0% (from 16,092,798 in 1995).
