In 2002, Hungary's nights spent at tourist accommodation establishments decreased by 1.1% compared to 2001, reaching 18,449,935.

Hungary ranks 16th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 7.8% (from 17,114,388 in 1997).
