In 2012, Ireland's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 16.4% compared to 2011, reaching 12.8%.
The figure is below the EU-27 average of 14.2%.
Ireland ranks 21st out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.
Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 54.8% (from 28.3% in 2007).
