In 2022, Italy's persons at risk of poverty or social exclusion by age and sex decreased by 3.2% compared to 2021, reaching 24.4%.

The figure is above the EU-27 average of 21.6%.

Italy ranks 8th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 5.8% (from 25.9% in 2017).
