In 1998, Italy's employment rates by educational attainment level increased by 0.6% compared to 1997, reaching 81.2%.

Italy ranks 17th out of 20 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 3.7% (from 84.3% in 1993).
