In 2009, Latvia's passenger cars, by type of motor energy and size of engine decreased by 3.1% compared to 2008, reaching 904,310.

Latvia ranks 22nd out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 31.8% (from 686,100 in 2004).
