In 1996, Lithuania's passenger cars, by type of motor energy and size of engine increased by 9.3% compared to 1995, reaching 785,088.

Lithuania ranks 20th out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 47.9% (from 530,820 in 1991).
