In 1998, Lithuania's passenger cars, by type of motor energy and size of engine increased by 11.2% compared to 1997, reaching 980,910.

Lithuania ranks 20th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 64.1% (from 597,740 in 1993).
