In 1999, Lithuania's passenger cars, by type of motor energy and size of engine increased by 11.1% compared to 1998, reaching 1,089,334.

Lithuania ranks 20th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 66.9% (from 652,810 in 1994).
