In 2009, Lithuania's passenger cars, by type of motor energy and size of engine increased by 1.4% compared to 2008, reaching 1,695,286.

Lithuania ranks 18th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 28.8% (from 1,315,914 in 2004).
