In 2024, Malta's police-recorded offences by offence category increased by 14.0% compared to 2023, reaching 4,235.

Malta ranks 26th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 18.4% (from 5,187 in 2019).
