General government expenditure by function (COFOG)

In 2010, Malta's general government expenditure by function (COFOG) decreased by 4.3% compared to 2009, reaching 13.4%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 19.7%.

Malta ranks 25th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 1.5% (from 13.2% in 2005).
