In 2007, Malta's passenger cars, by type of motor energy and size of engine increased by 2.8% compared to 2006, reaching 224,009.

Malta ranks 26th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 11.0% (from 201,900 in 2002).
