Persons at risk of poverty or social exclusion by age and sex

In 2021, Malta's persons at risk of poverty or social exclusion by age and sex increased by 2.0% compared to 2020, reaching 20.3%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 21.7%.

Malta ranks 13th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 0.5% (from 20.2% in 2016).
