In 2020, Portugal's net occupancy rate of bed-places and bedrooms in hotels and similar accommodation (NACE rev. 2, i, 55.1) (from 2012 onwards) decreased by 50.6% compared to 2019, reaching 25.2.

Portugal accounts for 89.5% of the EU-27 total of 28.2.

Portugal ranks 18th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 42.8% (from 44.1 in 2015).
