In 2012, Romania's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 2.7% compared to 2011, reaching 22.9%.
The figure is above the EU-27 average of 16.9%.
Romania ranks 2nd out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.
Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 6.9% (from 24.6% in 2007).
