In 2005, Romania's passenger cars, by type of motor energy and size of engine increased by 4.3% compared to 2004, reaching 3,364,000.

Romania ranks 11th out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 7.5% (from 3,128,782 in 2000).
