In 2021, Slovakia's persons participating in tourism for personal purposes increased by 11.1% compared to 2020, reaching 1,600,316.

Slovakia accounts for 1.0% of the EU-27 total of 152,946,667.

Slovakia ranks 16th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 5.5% (from 1,516,980 in 2016).
