In 2001, Spain's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 5.6% compared to 2000, reaching 19.0%.

Spain ranks 5th out of 22 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 5.6% (from 18.0% in 1996).
