In 2025, the EU-27 figure for children aged less than 3 years in formal childcare was 40.5 .

That is a 3.3% rose versus 2024 (39.2).

Over the five years before that, the EU-27 aggregate moved 23.5% higher.

Across member states, Denmark reported the highest value (67.2, 2025) and Slovakia the lowest (1.80, 2025) — a ratio of 37.3× between the two ends of the range.
