Persons at risk of poverty or social exclusion by age and sex

In 2021, Austria's persons at risk of poverty or social exclusion by age and sex increased by 3.6% compared to 2020, reaching 17.3%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 21.7%.

Austria ranks 18th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 0.6% (from 17.2% in 2016).
