In 2024, Belgium's persons at risk of poverty or social exclusion by age and sex decreased by 2.7% compared to 2023, reaching 18.3%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 21.0%.

Belgium ranks 16th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 9.0% (from 20.1% in 2019).
