At-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex

In 2017, Bulgaria's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 2.2% compared to 2016, reaching 23.4%.

The figure is above the EU-27 average of 16.9%.

Bulgaria ranks 2nd out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 10.4% (from 21.2% in 2012).
