Population change - Demographic balance and crude rates at national level

In 1999, Bulgaria's population change increased by 11.4% compared to 1998, reaching 8.8.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 10.3.

Bulgaria ranks 24th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 6.4% (from 9.4 in 1994).
